ASUU: Many Lecturers Will Migrate After Strike — Osodeke

Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, the National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has spoken on the effects of the court ruling on the academia of the nation. 

The National Industrial Court had on Wednesday ordered ASUU to call off its ongoing strike and return to work.

Speaking to Channels Television, the ASUU president assured that when the strike is eventually called off, many lecturers will leave the country.

He stated that the lecturers are likely to make this resolve owing to the forceful resumption ordered by the court in favour of the federal government.

"I can assure you, when this strike is over, a large number of our lecturers are going to migrate from this country. When you are using force to push your

"First of all, they said, ‘If we owe them, if we don’t pay them, they will come and beg us.

"Seven months, it didn’t work. Our members are still alive.

"And then, they went to court, you want to force them. It is a catastrophe,"  Osodeke said.

The ASUU boss has also hinted at the union appealing the court order directing its members to resume without their consent.
