ASUU: NLC Ogun Council Protests Strike

ASUU: NLC Ogun Council Protests Strike

The Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC ) has protested the prolonged strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in Abeokuta.

The state's NLC Chairman, Emmanuel Bankole alongside other union leaders led the protest against the strike by Nigerian university institution lecturers which has been on for over five months.

Ogun State NLC members were joined by the students under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

Banners and placards bearing "Enough is not enough until all ASUU demands are met" and  "pay us withheld salaries", among others.

Speaking during the protest, Bankole said “we must rise up to this challenge. We must not leave the battle to the university workers alone. All of us in this country must rise and rally round the university workers. Enough is enough!”

The NLC organised a two-day protest after the federal government failed to meet the demands of ASUU.

The protest began today with several states including Lagos, Rivers, and Osun, coming out in their numbers to protest the unending stike.
