ASUU: Northern Elders Slam Ngige Over Lingering Strike

The Northern Elders’ Forum (NEF) has called out the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige over his handling of the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Per a Daily Post report, NEF Spokesman, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, stated that President Buhari doesn't care about who runs the country and also tackled Rotimi Amaechi for ignoring his duty to pursue a presidential ambition.

On Chris Ngige, Baba-Ahmed said the minister planned to shun the students who have been at him for several months to run for the office of president.

"Ngige was going to leave the ASUU strike and students at home to run for the Presidency of Nigeria", he stated.

The ASUU strike which began in February has continued due to the impasse between the federal government and the union over issues raised by the latter.

Speaking recently, Ngige had said that the government was making efforts to end the industrial action soon.
