ASUU Strike: ABU Zaria To Resume Academic Activities On Octo

ABU Zaria

The administration of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Kaduna State is set to resume academic activities on October 24, 2022.

Malam Auwal Umar, the institution's Director of Public Affairs, through the institution's bulletin, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Zaria.

The resumption of academic activities in the institution comes after the suspension of the eight-month strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The Publicity Director said the resumption was approved at the institution's 516th (Emergency) Meeting.

Umar added that the university's revised academic calendar for the 2021/2022  session was also approved by the Senate.

He noted that the calendar earlier approved by the senate at its 513th (Regular) meeting held on November 25, 2021, had to be revised after the suspension of the ASUU strike.

Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria will reopen on Monday, October 24, 2022, for the resumption of academic activities following the approval of the revised academic calendar for the 2021/2022 academic session by the Senate of the university at its 516 (Emergency) meeting held today [Wednesday, October 19, 2022].

“The calendar, earlier approved by the Senate at its 513 [regular] meeting held on 25th November 2021 had to be revised largely due to the ASUU’s eight-month-old strike, which was called off only last week,” the bulletin read.

The strike by lecturers under ASUU was suspended last Friday.
