The Coalition of Northern Groups - Students Wing (CNG-SW) has described the action of the education minister, Malam Adamu Adamu as shameful.

The group also called for the resignation of the minister with immediate effect.

Adamu had walked out on the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) during a meeting over the ongoing strike by ASUU.

This was made available to newsmen at the CNG-SW secretariat in Katsina by Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, head of the group.

Describing the Minister's action as shameful on Thursday, he said the minister lacks the will to end the ongoing crisis.

He further stated that the group will collaborate with NANS and other relevant groups to shut down activities in the country if the crisis is not resolved.

He stated “While we commend the effort of the apex students’ body, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in calling attention to the implications of such actions, we condemn with all our might the shameful walk out on NANS executives by the Minister of Education.

“We see the action of the Minister as a gross show of unconscionable immorality, insensitivity, and impunity abhorrent to the collective sensibilities of the students, parents and indeed the country at large."

While noting that this is the second time the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has embarked on strike in two years, he lamented that the students have always been at the receiving end.

He added that the strike has disrupted the education system in the country citing that this was the 16th time since 1999.
