ASUU Strike: Landlord Announces Three-Month Free Rent For F

Federal University of Lafia (FULafia)

A Landlord in Lafia, Nasarawa state of Point86Housing, Raphael Galleh, has announced a three-month free rent for students of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Nasarawa State, who are tenants in the lodge.

The extension of tenancy, Galleh, said, was to ameliorate the effect of the strike action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) which lasted eight months.

“What this means is that, if your rent was to expire in January 2023, the new expiry date will be April 2023,’’ he explained.

He added that the gesture was “our own little way of supporting your education, especially in this economic hardship, and we hope it will go a long way.’

“However, those who are yet to pay their rents should reach out to me before the end of the week in order not to advertise their flats as vacant.’’

ASUU had last week called off its indefinite strike action following an order from the Court of Appeal.

Meanwhile ASUU president Emmanuel Osodeke, in a press statement on Sunday disclosed that lecturers may not be able to resume teaching as "money for transport" may be an issue, due to the  Federal Government's no work, no pay policy.
