ASUU: Strike To End Soon As FG Agrees To Release N30BN

The Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) might be ending its lingering industrial action as the Federal Government has agreed to release N30 billion earned academic allowance to University lecturers.

According to information gathered, the allowance will be paid in tranches between May 2021 and February 2022.

It was also gathered that the government pledged to spend N20 billion on reviving the education sector as part of concessions meant to end the seven-month strike declared by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

These agreements were reached at the ongoing meeting between the FG and ASUU leadership on Thursday.

While the government team was led by Ngige, his minister of state, Festus Keyamo (SAN), and others, the ASUU delegation was led by its President, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi.
