ASUU: Trade Unions Join NLC Protest In Osun

Several trade unions have joined the Osun Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) solidarity protest against the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike in Osun State.

The unions including the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Trade Union Congress (TUC), Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), among others, on Tuesday, joined the national body in protest against the strike and other issues in the education sector of the country.

The protesters including the young and the old who gathered at Ogo Oluwa filing station in Oshogbo were seen with banners and placards with inscriptions expressing their grievances. 

Inscriptions such as "Let's join hands together to save public universities from total collapse", "Posterity will judge those who are playing games with the future of Nigeria", "Lecturers are not slaves", "and "Reopen our universities now, enough is enough", among others. 

Other unions that took part in the protest include the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Education and Associated Institutions (NASU).
