ASUU: Union Denies FG's Claims Of Resolving Impasse

ASUU: Union Denies FG's Claims Of Resolving Impasse

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has criticised the claims by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu that the issues between the union and the Federal Government have been settled.

The Minister had said the pressing issues surrounding the strike other than the payment of strike had been resolved.

Reacting to this, ASUU in a statement signed by the Chairperson and the secretary of Bayero University chapter, Haruna Musa and Kabiru Haruna Isa on Tuesday said the minister's claims were made to misinform the public on the progress of the strike.

The union in the statement blamed the Federal Government for the prolonged strike due to its wrong management of the issues.

“ASUU-BUK vehemently condemns the FG’s mishandling of the protracted industrial dispute that has kept Nigerian universities shut since February 14,” the statement said.

AllNews Nigeria reports that the meeting held between the union and the government last week Tuesday ended in a deadlock
