ASUU: Union Extends Strike Yet Again

ASUU: Union Extends Strike Yet Again

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has extended the ongoing strike yet again.

Punch reports that the latest decision was taken after the National Executive Council meeting at the union’s headquarters at the University of Abuja on Monday morning.

Details were sketchy as of the time of this report but the union and the federal government have been at loggerheads over the former's demands.

ASUU President Emmanuel Osodeke recently advised President Muhammdu Buhari to adopt the method of former president Goodluck Jonathan to resolve the issues and end the strike which commenced on February 14, 2022.

Osodeke had previously taken a swipe at some universities after they made the decision to pull out of the strike, calling them irrelevant.

Facing criticisms over the comments, the union leader had denied mocking the institutions, saying that he was misinterpreted by the media.
