ASUU: Union Reacts To New Court Ruling, Says Judgement Will Be Reviewed

ASUU: Union Reacts To New Court Ruling, Says Judgement Will

Emmanuel Osodeke

Following the order by the Court of Appeal to striking lecturers to call off the ongoing strike, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said it would review the judgment before taking action.

The Appellate Court on Friday directed members of ASUU to resume work immediately pending the negotiation with the federal government, as earlier ordered by the National Industrial Court (NIC).

Reacting to the new ruling, ASUU President Professor Emmanuel Osodeke said the union was yet to receive the official judgement from the court.

Osodeke said when the union receives the ruling, it would be reviewed with its counsels before deciding the next line of action, Daily Post reports.

"We have not received the ruling, when we get it, we will review it with our lawyer and then we can take the next step," the ASUU boss said.

ASUU headed to the Court of Appeal after the NIC, in September, ordered its members to resume academic activities while their demands had not been met.
