The protest which was led by the UNIPORT ASUU chairman, Dr Darlington Uzoma, started from the union's secretariat in Delta through the main gate of the university to the Senate building, Punch reports.
According to Uzoma, some memebers of the union jabr not been paid for 22 months due the negligence of the federal government and the adoption of the IPPIS.
“About 20 of our members in UNIPORT are being owed 22 months’ salaries because of the carelessness of the Federal Government through the payment system it adopted,” Uzoma said.
Members of ASUU in different universities protested that half salary paid to them by the federal government.
The lecturers argued that the half-salary payment was a ploy by the government to pay lecturers like casual workers.
