Atletico Madrid confirmed on Monday they have agreed to a deal to sign World Cup-winning French striker Antoine Griezmann permanently from Barcelona.
"Griezmann has signed a deal that links him to our club until June 30, 2026," said Atletico in a statement.
Griezmann, who signed for Barcelona in 2019 from Atletico for 120 million euros ($116.5 million), struggled at Camp Nou and was loaned back to Atletico in August last year.
This would signal the end of the short usage of the former Real Sociedad man by Diego Simeone due to a clause in his loan contract which mandate Atleti to pay complete 40M euros if he played up to some particular minutes.
Barcelona would also lap up around 20M euros and cut their loss for a player they bought for 120 million euros just 4 years ago.
