Atletico Madrid has taken up the loan deal of Lucas Torreira from Arsenal with an option to buy him for a reported fee of €21m as a possible replacement for Thomas Partey who moved in the opposite direction.
The Uruguay international joined Arsenal from Serie A side, Sampdoria in the summer of 2018 for a fee of €29M, and after 2 seasons at the Emirate Stadium, he scored 4 goals and provided 6 assists.

Torreira, 24, is almost like Partey in playing and also aggressive in the anchor midfield position but it remains to be seen how he would fit into Atletico Madrid's midfield.
He would not be heading into an unfamiliar ground as he would link up with national teammates such as Luis Suarez and Jose Gimenez at the Wanda Metropolitano.
