Attah Igala Commends Kogi Government On Agricultural Interve

The Attah of Igala, His Royal Majesty, Mathew Opaluwa Oguche Akpa has commended Kigi state government on the project, KOGI APPEALS,for facilitating the needed support for farmers across the three senatorial districts of the state.

The Royal father gave the commendation when the State Project Coordinator for APPEALS Project, Dr Sanni Abdullahi Ozomata paid an advocacy visit to him at his palace in Idah. 

He stated that a lot of positive things have been said by beneficiaries of the activities of the project in the state and appealed that more farmers be integrated into the scheme to access more support and also called for the inclusion of other crops in the scope of coverage of the APPEALS project in the state.

Earlier in his address, the APPEALS State Project Coordinator, Dr. Sanni Abdullahi Ozomata appreciated the royal father for granting him and his team audience and stated that tyey are in the palace to intimate him of the activities of the project in transforming the agricultural landscape of the state.

While highlighting the various support KOGI APPEALS has facilitated over the years for farmers in the state, Dr. Ozomata said farm inputs such as fertilizers, chemicals, seedlings and stems have been made available to farmers free of any charge and across the three value chains of rice, cashew and cassava in order to boost their productivity and contribute to the food security goals of the country. 

This, he said is in addition to the provision of farm equipment and building the capacity of farmers on good agronomic practices in line with the project development objective.

The state project coordinator added that the intervention of  KOGI APPEALS in the agric sector of the state cuts across the production, processing and marketing segments of rice, cashew and cassava, alongside infrastructural support to agribusiness clusters such as farm  access roads, connection to a source of electricity supply and the provision of boreholes to aid the activities of food processors in the state.  

At the end of the meeting, the Attah of Igala presented a meritorious award of service to the state project coordinator on behalf of the People with Disabilities and Special Needs (PWDs), Kogi East chapter in appreciation of his contributions and service to humanity
