Auchi Poly Installs Broadband Internet Services For Improved

Optic fibre cable broadband has been installed across the campuses of Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi to enhance the transmission of data.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Salisu Umar, made the announcement in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Auchi, Edo, on Thursday.

According to him, broadband internet services were installed across the campuses to improve the speed of data transmission to researchers, staff members and students.

“In order to key into the competition and be part of some of the best researchers, staffers and students, the provision of internet is a crucial part of the structure of an institution of higher learning across the world.

“This is because unreliable internet connection has remained a huge setback.

“If you go around our polytechnic now, you will see the laying of optic fibre everywhere for broadband so that our lecturers and students will no longer have to buy data in the process of doing their research.

“We want to make research just at our palm; bring out your laptop anywhere and you connect to the server,” he said.

Umar added that the polytechnic had produced researchers who have achieved excellence in various fields.

“We want to move from paper research to actually skilled research.

“I was once a director research and innovation, and because of that, I know the importance of research.

“Before I became the rector, I had organised more than 22 conferences and as chairman of those conferences from 2008, I know the potentials, what it takes and who we need to train,” the Rector added.
