Novak Djokovic reached the men’s semifinal of the Australian Open on Tuesday after beating Alexander Zverev 6-7, 6-2, 6-4, 7-6.

The Serb will face Russian qualifier Aslan Karatsev, who beat an injured Grigor Dimitrov, on Thursday.

A furious racket smash from Djokovic was the spur for a dramatic quarter-final comeback, as the world No1 rallied from an unpromising position to beat German Zverev by a 6-7, 6-2, 6-4, 7-6 margin.
The flashpoint came shortly before Zverev moved into a 4-1 lead in the crucial third set.
Djokovic was nowhere near his best as he struggled with an abdominal injury but willed himself to the finish line as he secured a gutsy victory.

He was full of rage but showed plenty of grit as he secured one of his gutsiest ever wins.
After smashing his racket, he plopped himself down right there at the back of the blue court, looking forlorn as can be. But in the end, he triumphed.
Zverev, the 2020 U.S. Open runner-up and a semifinalist in Melbourne a year ago, once more had trouble against elite competition on the biggest stages.
