The industrial action embarked on by workers of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc grounded international flights at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Monday morning.
NAHCO disclosed that the strike action is due to salary increment demands on the part of the aviation workers.
One of the affected passengers and aviation expert who identified himself as Alex Nuba revealed that NAHCO personnel walked out of the international airport in the wee hours of Monday.
According to him, the aggrieved workers insisted they were on strike and would not handle any passengers.
“Even the Qatar flight I’m travelling with this morning landed and has returned to Doha as there’s no one to handle them", Nuba said.
He added that the passengers are frustrated as they have been kept outside to prevent a crisis, with no information, announcements or emails to let them know what was going on.
It was further revealed that more flights would be grounded if the situation is not addressed.
