National Youth Service Corps, NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Y.D. Ahmed has cautioned corps members to refrain from undertaking night journeys and show respect for their assigned locations' culture and traditions.

He revealed this while delivering a speech at Tuesday's closing ceremony of their orientation exercise in Sokoto State.

General Ahmed, who was represented by NYSC Coordinator Alhaji Usman Yakubu Yaro, stressed the importance of safety and urged corps members to avoid travelling at night.

"By 6:00 PM, cease your journey and seek out designated safe accommodations,” he said.

He further highlighted the importance of responsible behaviour.

"I admonish you to uphold the values of patriotism, diligence, and perseverance, they are essential qualities for nation-building."

Corps members, he said, should represent not only their families but also the NYSC with a positive reputation.

He also advised the corps members to respect the culture and traditions of the people in their host communities

General Ahmed further encouraged corps members to continue participating in the NYSC's Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED program offered during the orientation camp.
