Ayeni Lauds Akwa United Players For Ending Winless Run

Akwa United boss Ayodeji Ayeni has showered praises on his players for ending their two-game winless streak against Kwara United on Monday night.

The former Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions were at their very best on the night, condemning visiting Kwara United to a 3-1 defeat at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

Taiye Muritala, Cyril Olisema and Friday Ubong scored the three goals for Akwa United in the game, while Samad Kadiri scored Kwara United’s consolation goal.

"I’m really excited that we were able to bounce back to winning ways,” Ayeni said in his interaction with the media after the game.

"I want to congratulate my players for their determination and courage throughout the game.

“It was a tough game, but we were able to win because we made the best use of our opportunities.”

The Promise Keepers will be in action again on Thursday when they lock horns with WIkki Tourists in the Round 64 of the Federation Cup.
