Baba Ijesha: Why Defilement Case Was Adjourned Yet Again

The defilement case against popular Yoruba actor Baba Ijesha was adjourned on Thursday after he stated that his original statement was given under duress.

Speaking through his lawyer, Baba Ijesha requested to the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja that the statement he made at the Sabo Police Station when he was initially arrested should be wiped off.

According to the actor's counsel, the statement he gave at the station is different from the one taken at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti.

The case was then adjourned to December 15, 2021.

Baba Ijesha was put into custody on April 22, 2021, after it was announced by the Lagos State Police Command that he had been arrested for alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in the care of Comedian Princess.

He is being charged with six counts of sexual assault by penetration, indecent treatment of a child, and sexual assault.
