Badaru Approves Pension Increase For Jigwa Pensioners

The Governor of Jigawa State, Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar has approved the implementation of the newly negotiated revised minimum monthly pension of N12,000 in the state.

The governor's approval was conveyed by the state's Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Hussaini Ali Kila.

Kila said with the approval, his office can now implement the upward review according to the approved template.

He added that the payment with the approved increase would take effect from January, 2023.

This was contained in a statement signed and issued by the spokesperson of the Jigawa State Civil Service, Ismaila Ibrahim Dutse on Thursday.

According to Dutse, the Head of Civil Service explained that although the new minimum pensions will increase the wage bill of the state, "The State Government believes that it is important to let pensioners receive decent pensions."

He further stated that a circular indicating the pension increase for pensioners would be issued to all relevant stakeholders for immediate implementation with effect from stipulated time.

“I thank all stakeholders and our patient pensioners for bearing with the processes that have finally culminated in the successful conclusion of the matter.

“I look forward to a more proactive and seamless implementation of subsequent increases in the future so that our senior citizens who served their country enjoy the fruits of their labour from a grateful Jigawa State."
