The governor of Jigawa State, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has employed sixty indigenous medical students sponsored by the state government to study in China.
This was conveyed in a statement on Thursday by Auwal D. Sankara, the state's Commissioner for Special Duties.
According to the commissioner, the governor congratulated the students on their achievements.
He further reaffirmed the state's commitment to investing in education and healthcare.
"The Governor is delighted to announce that the sixty medical students sponsored by the Jigawa State Government to study medicine in China have successfully graduated and are now qualified to work in Nigerian hospitals.
"The Governor has decided to give an automatic appointment to all of these students as a way of recognizing their hard work and dedication," the commissioner stated.
He added that the government remains focused on the training and development of healthcare professionals in the state.
"We believe that investing in education and healthcare is key to building a healthy and prosperous society.
"We will continue to invest in the training and development of healthcare professionals in Jigawa State, to ensure that our people have access to quality healthcare services," the governor said.
"The Governor's decision to give automatic appointments to the medical students is a testament to his administration's commitment to improving healthcare services in Jigawa State.
"It is hoped that this initiative will inspire other state governments to invest in education and healthcare, for the betterment of their citizens," Sankara added.
