Banditry: Over 20 Abducted In Zamfara Community

Over 20 people have been abducted following the bandits' invasion of the Furfuri community in the  Bungudu local government area of Zamfara state.

The invasion which took place on Sunday night led to the abduction of two wives of former Accountant-General of the state, Abu-Bello Furfuri.

Leadership reported that the two wives were later rescued by members of a vigilante group.

Meanwhile, sources revealed that some members of the former accountant's house are still in captivity.

A source revealed that the former accountant's daughters; Zulaihat and Zainab are among the abducted people.

AllNews Nigeria gathered that the attack on the Furfuri's house was a deliberate one as the bandits went straight to the house when they invaded.

The former accountant "lived with his family in Furfuri even when he was in office, so it’s possible the attack was a deliberate one because they went straight to his house when they entered the community,” as gathered.

He was reported to have escaped through the back exit with the help of his domestic staff when the bandits arrived.

The source added that “what we know now is that 18 residents are with the bandits including Zulaihat, Zainab and three other domestic staff were taken from the former AG (Accountant-General) house.

"Seven of them were taken but with the rescue of the two wives, he now has five people to save.

"The remaining 13 people were picked from other houses. They could be more than that but for now, this is what we’ve gathered.”

The Zamfara state police command is yet to release an official statement on the incident.
