Banditry: Participants Proffer Ways To End Menace 

The media aide to former Osun State governor, Ismail Omipidan has proposed ways by which banditry can be cured in today's world.

According to Omipidan, these ways include; state police, establishment of cattle ranches, enforcement of punishment of offenders, sensitisation of the youths, youth empowerment and entrepreneurship encouragement and deployment technological tools.

Omipidan made this known at the 2022 International Peace Confab and 9th anniversary of the World Institute for Peace (WIP) at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Abuja.

At the event themed: “View to Peace Building, Security and Human Right in Modern World: How Can We End Banditry?”, participants discussed peace building, security and human right in modern world and also proffered ways by which banditry can be ended.

Other participants hailed the efforts of the institute under the leadership of Lamina Kamiludeen Omotoyosi.

They commended the organisation for promoting innovative agendas in promoting the culture of peace across the world and urged the organisation to look at ways by which they can facilitate peace in the 2023 general elections in Nigeria.

Notable Nigerians were inducted into the institute's World Icon of Peace and invested with Fellows while others were conferred with Knights of World Peace.

Award presentation were made in the following divisions;

Winners of the Knights of World Peace KWP:

1. Ambassador Ahmed Rufai Abubakar CFR DG NIA, Nigeria.

2. Engr Abdullahi A. Sule, Nasarawa State Governor, Nigeria.

3. Ambassador (DR) Pedrito Marrero, Florida, USA

4. Assistant Inspector General of Police,  Olokode T. Olawale, Nigeria.    

5. Ambassador Dustin Pickering Houston, Texas, USA

 6. Dr. Sybil Olufunmilayo Akinfenwa, Commissioner of Police (rtd), Nigeria.

 7. General Lucky Eluonye Onyenuchea Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff, Nigeria.

Winners of the World Icon of Peace WIP include;

1. Ambassador Umutkan Erelieva (Kyrgyzstan Republic)

2. Ambassador Adegoke Toluwani (Nigeria)

3. Ambassador Lauritta Boniface (Nigeria)

4. Dr. Benjamin Akintola (Nigeria)

World Epitome of Humanity

Chief (Mrs) Dolapo Dosunmu, Nigeria.

Present at the conference were the Governor of Nasarawa State, A. Sule represented by Yakubu Lamai, the Director General on Strategic Communications to the Governor, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 7 (Bauch) Olawale Olokode, Lieutenant General Lamidi Adeosun CFR (rtd).

Others are Major General Edeh Odeh, Consultant to Nigerian Army Resource Center, Gboluga Akengboju, member representing Okiti-Pupa/Irele Federal Constituency, House of Representatives, Chief Mrs. Dosunmu, former Director, National Orientation Agency, Oyo State and many others.
