Marauding bandits abducted no fewer than 50 people in an early morning attack on Bassa community in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, northern Nigeria.
The bandits stormed the community in large numbers in motorcycles in the early hours of Thursday as the people were getting set for the day’s activities, The Nation reported.

Sani Abubakar Kokki, the co-convener Concerned Shiroro Youths, confirmed the attack, describing the bandits as terrorists.
Kokki lamented the mayhem unleashed by the marauders on unsuspecting peaceful, unarmed and defenseless locals. He stated that the number of people kidnapped is not yet certain but that they were very many.
The youth leader also disclosed that on Tuesday, some other communities in Bassa/Kokki were attacked with many losses recorded.
Kokki said that Shiroro Local Government Area is in dire need of help, as people continue to live at the mercy of the bandits.
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Niger State, ASP Abiodun Wasiu, is yet to issue a statement regarding the attack.
