Suspected bandits have abducted the father of the Speaker of Zamfara State House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasiru Muazu Magarya.
According to information gathered the assailants also kidnapped the Speaker’s stepmother, uncle, and other four persons during an attack in the Magarya community of Zurmi Local Government Area of the State.
Reports from multiple media platforms including TVC and Daily Trust stated that eight people were kidnapped in total.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, AP Muhammed Shehu reportedly confirmed the incident. He said the command has deployed additional troops to the affected area to ensure the safe return of the victims.
Zamfara in Northwest Nigeria is one of the states most affected by bandits’ attacks. The attacks have continued despite negotiations initiated by the state government with the bandits.
