Bandits Attack Police Outpost, Seize Officers' Phones In Zam

Bandits have attacked a police outpost and seized officers' phones in Magami community of Zamfara State.

The incident occurred on Thursday around 3:40 pm, according to sources.

The community is one of the areas worst hit by activities of bandits, forcing residents to flee in the state.

As reported by Daily Trust, a journalist identified as Abdul Balarabe confirmed the incident. 

“Bandits attack Magami Divisional police station under Gusau LGA of Zamfara State, snatch phones and other valuables belonging to the police on duty, they also fired warning shots and escaped. 

"The incident happened today around 3:40 pm," he narrated.

Other sources in the community also confirmed the incident, adding that the bandits attacked the outpost to free one of them who was detained earlier.

However, the suspect in question had already been transferred to the state police headquarters when they attacked. 

“They collected the phones of all the officers on duty and that of one of the complainant they met there, but didn’t kill anybody,” a source said.

While there is no official release on the incident from the Zamfara state police command, the command's spokesperson, SP Muhammad Shehu denied the report to Daily Trust.

He said, "No such thing happened" while refusing to answer more questions on the issue.
