Bandits Kill Chief Imam, Others In Separate Sokoto Attacks

A chief Imam of Gangara local government of Sokoto State and two others have been reportedly murdered by bandits.

Reports on Thursday said the Chief Imam, addressed as Liman Na-Kimba, was killed on Wednesday while coming back from Sokoto where he went to collect his pension.

According to eyewitnesses, their vehicles rammed into a gang of bandits along Adamawa village and the assailants opened fire on them.

“One of the bullets hit and killed the imam,” the source said.

Bandits killed two farmers at Dunkawa village under the Gatawa district in the same Sabon Birni local government four days ago.

The bandits also abducted six other farmers while working on their farms.

Leader of the vigilante group in Sabon Birni, Musa Muhammad confirmed this to Daily Trust.

“They met them working on their farms, killed two and abducted six others,” he said.

He lamented that bandits brought cattle to destroy farms in the communities.

The police is yet to comment on the killings.
