Bandits Kill Police Inspector, Abduct Scores In Katsina

Following a bandits' attack on Katsina-Jibia highway in Katsina State, a police inspector identified as Idris Musa has been killed.

According to reports, the bandits after killing him set his vehicle on fire while abducting many passengers.

The incident took place at Makera, a community few kilometers away from the Katsina metropolis on Monday morning.

Reports by eyewitnesses reveal that the attack took place around 8:00 am as the attackers blocked the road shooting sporadically to stop vehicles. 

This was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Katsina state police command, SP Gambo Isah.

Isah said the inspector died while trying to repel the attack.

He further explained that the deceased was ambushed by the attackers and shot at close range. 

“They killed him on the spot and abducted many passengers who boarded some commercial vehicles from Jibia Local Government to Katsina town for their daily businesses."

The police spokesperson further explained that the attackers burnt the deceased's vehicle and went away with undisclosed number of passengers into the forest.
