Bandits Prevent Flight Take-Off In Kaduna

Bandits Prevent Flight Take-Off In Kaduna

Reports from Kaduna State say some brazen bandits have prevented an AZMAN aircraft scheduled for Lagos from take-off on Saturday.

According to sources, one staff of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) was shot dead around the runway area of the airport.

The source said AZMAN aircraft could not take off at about 12.30 pm because of the presence of the bandits by the runways of the airport.

"As I speak to you now, there is already military presence to beef up security, though most of the staff are scared with the killing of the NAMA staff, the source said.

The source added that more than 10 trucks of the military were at the airport for reinforcement. No security personnel or the management of AZMAN air have spoken on the matter at the moment.

Meanwhile, many Kaduna residents have been confirmed dead in six villages of Giwa Local Government Area of the state.

The state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, in a statement on Friday in Kaduna, said a detailed security report on the attack that led to their deaths was still being awaited.

“Some citizens have been killed by bandits in six villages of Giwa LGA,” he said.

According to Aruwan, the attacks occurred between Thursday and the early hours of Friday.

“The affected villages are Dillalai, Barebari, Dokan Alhaji Ya’u, Durumi, Kaya and Fatika. An unspecified number of locals were also kidnapped,” he said.

The commissioner assured that the state government would keep the general abreast of developments.
