Bandits Raid Niger Community, Kill Three Vigilantes, Abduct Residents

Armed bandits have attacked a community in Lapai local government area of Niger State, killing three vigilantes, including their Commander, Danladi Dobbo, while others sustained injuries.

Per reports, scores of residents in the area were also abducted in the unfortunate incident which took place on Friday.

Eyewitnesses revealed that the gunmen stormed the community as villagers and tractor operators were engaged in farming and after kidnapping many, the bandits set the tractor ablaze.

Following the attack, vigilantes in the vicinity mobilised for a search and rescue mission to the forest where they engaged the bandits in a gun battle that resulted in the death of the three security men.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun could not be reached for a confirmation of the incident.
