Citizens of Bangladesh are protesting the sanctions by the United States against its top security officers after 7 people, including the country’s national police chief, were accused of human rights abuses.
Washington imposed sanctions against them as they are accused of involvement in hundreds of disappearances and nearly 600 extrajudicial killings since 2018.
The country's officials denounced the move, with Masud Bin Momen, the country's foreign secretary summoning the US ambassador to convey their discontent over the decision.
Meanwhile, local rights activist, Sanjida Islam commended the US for their perfect move as he claimed more officers who were involved in the abductions and disappearances should be included.
In January 2017, a Bangladesh court sentenced 26 people to death as they were found of involvement in the abduction and murder of seven individuals.
