Bank Robbers Kill Policeman, Road Safety Officer In Ekiti

Armed robbers have killed a policeman and an officer of the Special Federal Road Safety Corps on Monday in Ekiti State as they raided a bank.

It was reported that the armed robbers stormed the bank through Igede-Ado-Ekiti Road after close of work. The armed robbers gained access to the bank by using explosives to blow the main entrance to the bank.

It was gathered that the robbers had earlier opened fire on a police officer on guard before blowing up the main door. The policeman killed was outside the bank while the FRSC Special Marshall was also shot at a distance to the bank.

The Police spokesman of Ekiti State, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Sunday Abutu, confirmed in his statements that:

“The robbery took the lives of 2 men. Officers of the Rapid Response Squad chased and recovered two vehicles they used for the operation.

He concluded that the police have swung into action and will make sure to apprehend the robbers.
