Barca vs Villarreal
To have any chance of entering the transfer market this summer, Barcelona has been informed that they need to raise £178 million by selling current players, due to their well-documented financial issues.
Despite being hamstrung by monetary problems, the Catalan giants spent heavily in the summer of 2022 on players such as Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Jules Kounde.
They triggered several economic levers to afford the costly outlay but are still believed to be in debt to the tune of around £1bn.
The club now faces a race against time to secure the necessary funds to have any impact on the upcoming summer window.
They are thought to be relying on European competitions as a source of revenue and the failure to stay in the Champions League, as well as being knocked out of the Europa League by Manchester United, has tightened the screw even further at the club.
