Barcelona Open: Ruud powers past Muller, reaches last 16

World number 6, Casper Ruud beat Frenchman Alexandre Muller 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the last 16 of the Barcelona Open tennis tournament at Real Club de Tenis Barcelona on Wednesday afternoon.

Heading into the tournament, Ruud was the number 3 seed and has been tipped by bookmakers to cause quite a stir in Barcelona where some big casualties have bitten the dust.

Ruud will face Australian Jordan Thompson, the number 14 seed who defeated Spaniard Jaume Munar 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in the game that followed suit.

In the other ongoing games on Wednesday afternoon monitored by Allnews.ng, Dusan Lajovic defeated Ugo Humbert 6-4, 6-4, Marco Trungelitti got the better of Nicolas Jarry 7-6, 6-3 while Alejandro Davidovich walked over Tomas Machac.

The big game between Rafael Nadal and  Alex de Minaur is live as at the time of this report but the big Spaniard is trailing against his opponent 7-5, 3-1, 40-40.
