Barcelona's New Coach Is Ronald Koeman, Technical Director I

Barcelona is really under restructuring as Ronald Koeman has been appointed as new head coach and Ramos Planes named new Technical Director and Election moved to March 2021. After the match against Bayern which saw Barcelona out of the Champions League for the fourth time in a row, the club has embarked on restructuring at various levels at the club after the dismissal of former head coach Quique Setien and sporting director, Eric Abidal.

AllNews understands that the club president had a very long interview on Barca TV on Tuesday evening where he spoke extensively on the changes in the club and reason for such changes.

He started by announcing the new head coach saying "provided nothing goes wrong, Ronald will be the next head coach" of the Blaugrana till 2022. The former Dutch boss has terminated his contract with Netherland, though the terms of the contract remain on the unknown with suggestions and reports claiming he is just contracted with Barcelona till the Euros 2021, and Xavi will come to take charge at the club after the election.

The new technical director, Ramos Planes was also announced to take up the reins at the club going forward.

He also spoke about the financial situation at the club, saying "Barça have a salary limit problem. There is money, but Covid-19 has caused the income to decrease and, therefore, we have to reduce the team's salary mass to be able to bring in new players".

He listed certain players are non-transferable and some as transferable but many decisions will be the new head coach's call. That statement tries to prove that transfer decisions have been taken by coaches rather than him as many have suggested.

Part of the transferable are; Jordi Alba, Sergio Bousquet, Pique, Rakitic, Vidal, Umtiti. Non-transferables include, Lionel Messi, Marc Ter Stegen, Clement Lenglet, Nelson Semedo, Frenkie De Jong, Antoine Griezmann, Ousmane Dembele, and Ansu Fati.

Another player who could be welcomed back is Philippe Coutinho after his loan spell at Bayern Munich even scoring against Barcelona in the 8-2 thrashing in Portugal.

He did not celebrate the goal with a sad face showing his heart is still much at the Catalonia club. Bartomeu stated that the decision also falls on the should of Ronald Koeman.

Since most are calling for his resignation, he stated that "we did not want to resign, we wanted to do the planning for the next season. To resign now would be easy but irresponsible. We have a sporting crisis but not an institutional crisis".

There will be a club election next year and Bartomeu is not expected to win with various levels at the club not wanting him.
