Barcelona striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang was robbed in the early hours of Monday when a group of masked armed robbers broke into his home.

Aubameyang was an unused substitute in Barcelona's 4-0 win over Real Valladolid on Sunday night.

According to the Spanish newspaper El Pais, four men broke into his home in Castelldefels through the garden and threatened him and his wife with guns and iron bars before hitting him.

The robbers forced him to open a safe and carted away the jewellery inside before they fled by car.

Catalan Police confirmed the incident while also stating that the investigation is ongoing.

“The investigation remains open, and we are gathering information,”

The Gabonese striker has been linked with a return to the Premier League, with Chelsea interested in acquiring his services.

He joined Barcelona in February after his contract was mutually terminated by Arsenal.

Aubameyang has enjoyed a prolific time at Camp Nou, scoring 13 goals in 24 matches for Barcelona in all competitions.
