Barricade On Kosovo-Serbia Crossing Border Removed

The roadblock near the Kosovo-Serbia main border crossing was removed on Thursday.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced the removal of the barricades.

In a statement, the President said; "Barricades will be removed, but the mistrust remains."

The European Union and the United States have voiced concern over the situation.

Around a dozen protesters who were still at a barricade in Rudare, near Mitrovica, voiced dissatisfaction with the decision to remove the roadblocks.

Kosovo's main border crossing with Serbia was closed on Wednesday after dozens of protests on the Serbian side of the border.

The protest came after Serbia said it had put its army on the highest level of alert following weeks of escalating tensions between both countries.

Since December 10, Serbs in Kosovo have exchanged fire with police and erected more than 10 roadblocks.
