Comedian Basketmouth has chastised the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for detaining Sunday Joshua alias De-General, a skit writer, for what he described as a "pinch of pot."
On Wednesday, January 12, NDLEA operatives invaded DGeneral's residence in Lagos and arrested him. After invading his home to arrest him, a video of the operatives manhandling him was posted online.
The NDLEA said in a statement that illicit narcotics were recovered from the skit makers' home, including 200 sachets of 225mg Tramadol and 1.5 kilograms of cannabis sativa.
Basketmouth stated in a video posted on his Instagram Stories that Nigeria has more pressing issues to deal with than the arrest of the skit maker. He claimed that NDLEA agents are aware of cannabis users and that they should feel "little humiliation" and refrain from embarrassing others.
He wrote:
"Arrest of Skit maker De General, over a small pinch of weed is a waste of taxpayers money"
