Bauchi First Lady Donates Vehicle, Equipment To Gender Unit

Hajia Aisha Mohammed, the wife of the Bauchi state Governor, has donated a JAC pickup vehicle and office equipment to the Gender Section of the State Police Command.

Mr. Ahmed Wakil, the Spokesman of the Command, disclosed this in a statement made available to the press on Thursday in Bauchi.

He said the wife of the governor made the donation when she visited the Police Commissioner in the state, Mr. Sylvester Alabi.

Wakil quoted Mrs. Mohammed as saying: “The donation is part of my support to the Nigeria Police Force.

“To serve as a morale booster while at the same time equipping the gender section of the Bauchi State Command to enable them discharge their duties effectively.

“She appreciates the efforts of the command in fighting crime and criminality, especially the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) cases in the state,” Wakil said.

The spokesman said the items donated include a JAC pickup truck, Desktop computer set, Refrigerator, Laptop computer, two printers, two office chairs, UPS, and Stabilizer, among others.

Wakil said that the Commissioner of Police, in his response, appreciated the wonderful gesture by Mrs. Mohammed and assured her that the equipment will be used judiciously in the areas to which they are assigned.

According to him, Mr. Alabi stressed that the utilization of the equipment will enhance the capacity building and performance of the Gender Unit.

He added that the wife of the governor was worried by cases of crimes and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence.

Wakil said CP Alabi further urged the media to help the Police in sensitizing parents by creating more awareness.

“Awareness has helped in reducing the occurrence of rape cases and may possibly serve as a major approach that will lead to the achievement of a rape-free State,” he said.
