Bauchi Government Approves N514 Million For Rural Electrific

The Bauchi State Executive Council has approved the sum of N514 million for the rural electrification project.

The money will be used to purchase transformers and cables for the project in rural communities of the state.

The project will also be handled by the Bauchi State Ministry of Power, Science and Technology.

This was disclosed by the commissioner for Power, Science and Technology in the state, Maryam Garba Bagel.

Bagel stated that N319 million would be deducted from the money for the reconnection of 37 communities to the national grid.

She added that 200 communities will benefit from the purchase of N195 million transformers including accessories.

While noting that some of the Communities to benefit from the intervention have been in the dark for 2 -10years, she said the means put in place for implementation would help the government save costs.

Meanwhile, the council also approved the construction of N20 billion in rural roads across four council areas of the state.

The roads to benefit the state government's intervention include the Miya-Soro roads of Ganjuwa Local Government Area, the Rishi-Tulu-Tama roads in Toro Local Government Area and the roads linking Rimini Zayam to Pollachi, and Misau to Miya that links Misau and Ganjuwa local government areas.

Other roads that had the council's nod include the rehabilitation of Maraban Liman Katagum road and other Azare township roads covering over 200 kilometres.
