Bauchi Lawmaker Leaves APC

Senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District, Halliru Dauda Jika has resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lawmaker announced his resignation in a letter dated June 16, 2022, and addressed to Kafin Madaki Ward APC Chairman.

In the letter, he appreciated the leadership of the party for the opportunity to participate in the recently concluded governorship primary election.

“I humbly write to appreciate the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the opportunity given to me to participate in the just concluded governorship Primaries Election held on the 26th of May, 2022. “

‘’Based on the aforementioned and due consultation with political associates, promptings from my teaming supporters including women and youths, I wish to notify you of my resignation as a member of the party with immediate effect, he stated.

Sen. Jika contested and lost the Bauchi State APC governorship primaries, scoring 278 votes, emerging as the first runner up to former Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, who won the election with 370 votes out of 1021 votes cast.
