Bauchi: Many Do Not Know Diabetes, Hypertension Status — Group

The Federation of Muslim Women Association in Nigeria (FOMWAN) has offered free clinical screening for 65 diabetic and hypertension patients in Bauchi metropolis, disclosing that many do not know their status.

The Chairperson of the Association, Fatsuma Muhammad, stated this while at the inauguration of the exercise on Monday in Bauchi.

She said the exercise targeted aged women.

“The exercise is being conducted in Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate and its environs because it is the host community of our maternity. 

“We screened over 65 persons, some of them never knew they had ailments.

"We urged them to seek for medical help on diabetes and high blood pressure.

“So, they were been referred to secondary health facilities of their choice."

She revealed that many people go about their normal activities without knowing their blood pressure and diabetic status.

Fatsuma Muhammad advised the people to submit themselves for regular medical check-up and seek proffessional advice to enable them to enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
