Bauchi: Mohammed inspects ongoing rehabilitation of Yankari

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has paid an inspection visit to the ongoing rehabilitation of the Yankari Games Reserve as part of efforts to enhance cultural sites in the state.

The governor said his administration remained committed to developing the reserve and the state-owned Zaranda Hotel to develop human resources and make the state's cultural sites more appealing to visitors.

Mohammed stated this on Tuesday, praising the commitment and foresight of the former Governor of the State, Alhaji Ahmed Adamu Muazu for reviving the Yankari Games Reserve.

He assured that his administration will ensure that the security of the whole area is enhanced and rights of species are protected.

The Governor's Senior New Media aide, Lawal Muazu Bauchi disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

According to Bauchi, the governor also attributed the reserve's decline on insufficient attention and oversight as well as the negligence of the previous administrations.

The further issued a strong warning to intruders and hunters who break into the reserve to kill animals.

On his part, Ruben Okoya of the Architect Tronix, the contractor leading the rehabilitation project assured Governor Mohammed of quality work, adding that "When completed, Yankari will match up against its global counterparts."
