A Non-Government Organisation (NGO) based in Bauchi State, Fahimta Women and Youth Development Initiative (FAWOYDI), has begun a four-day training for 200 primary school teachers on how to effectively deliver the curriculum.
The Executive Director of the initiative, Hajiya Maryam Garba, at the opening of the training on Thursday in Bauchi State teachers were chosen from selected local government areas in the state.
As reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), participants were selected from Tafawa Balewa, Dambam, Bauchi, and Katagum Local Education Authorities of the state.
Garba said the initiative is determined to build the capacities of the participants for positive impact, stating that the areas of classroom management, behavioural change communication, coaching, and mentoring will also be covered during the training to promote effective teaching and learning in the schools in Bauchi State.
She also said the training was organised in association with the T.Y. Danjuma Foundation, a foundation that assisted with the construction of more primary schools in Gamawa, Dass, and Darazo Local Government Areas of Bauchi State.
Terso Akula, a representative of the T.Y. Foundation felicitated with the participants, encouraging them to make good use of the knowledge from the training.
He also said the training would have a good impact on both teachers and students, especially in the aspect of curriculum delivery and implementation.
Akula lamented the substandard quality of primary school products despite the enormous investment in the sector.
He however said the foundation would not stop partnering with stakeholders who are interested in the betterment of the education sector.
