The State Commissioner of Police, Umar Mamman Sanda stated this during an on-the-spot assessment of the area where erupted last night.

The Commissioner said  preliminary investigations revealed that the disturbances started from a rivalry amongst the youths of Anguwan Yaya, and Yalwan Tsakani which extended to other parts of Yelwa.

The force's spokesman, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil in a statement he signed on Saturday and sent to allnews said five houses were set ablaze, four persons sustained various degrees of injuries and two were certified dead by a medical doctor.

"... Police operatives comprising Tactical teams, Mobile Police Force, Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and Quick intervention Unit (QIU) swiftly responded to the distress and brought the situation under control.

"Visibility Patrols are still ongoing to maintain peace and prevent further breakdown of law and order in the affected area as well as the Bauchi metropolis," part of the statement reads.

The statement added that CP Sanda  has ordered a discreet investigation to causes of the incidence, and for swift justice to be served.

The CP further appealed to the general public for calm and go about their lawful business as normalcy had since been restored in the affected area.
