Bawa Meets Buhari, Backs Naira Redesign, Says EFCC Monitors

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa has met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa in Abuja.

Bawa expressed support for the Naira redesign by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) shortly after his meeting with the president on Thursday.

He added that the huge amount of Naira notes that have left the hold of the CBN makes trailing financial crimes difficult

He added that the redesign was an opportunity for the government to regain control of the country's cash flow.

He said following the plan to redesign and change some of the Naira currencies, the anti-graft agency is currently monitoring more state governors.

He said information at the disposal of the agency indicates three governors starching money.

He explained that the governors have concluded plans to inject the money into the system through table payment of their state workers' salaries.

The anti-graft agency boss however refused to disclose the identities of the said governors.
