Bayelsa Education Trust Fund Reiterates Support For School D

Dr Alice Atuwo, the Executive Secretary of the Education Trust Fund (EDTF), has stated that the fund is intervening in important areas of the educational sector, such as providing support for school debates.

Atuwo said this during the presentation of computers and accessories for coding and robotics practicals to 12 model schools on Wednesday in Yenagoa.

Highlighting the benefits of school debate, she emphasised that it helps to develop the public speaking and communication skills of young students in their pursuit of knowledge.

Additionally, she pointed out that engaging in debates fosters self-assurance and referenced the fact that numerous world leaders honed their public speaking abilities through school debates.

The Acting Chairman of EDTF, Prof Francis Ikoki, urged the students to make the most of the chance to enhance their public speaking skills, which would serve them well in the future.

Also, the Regent of the Tarakiri clan in Bayelsa, Chief Fidelis Agbiki, shared that he is a product of school debate and was awarded a scholarship over 40 years ago by the late Governor Sam Ogbemudia of the old Bendel State for his exceptional performance in a debate.
