Bayelsa: Oshiomole Blows Hot, Says Nobody Would Be Sworn In As Governor

Bayelsa: Oshiomole Blows Hot, Says Nobody Would Be Sworn In

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has said that nobody should be sworn in as the new governor of Bayelsa State on Friday.

The Supreme Court had on Thursday nullified the election victory of Lyon following the November 12, 2019 judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja which had disqualified APC’s deputy governorship candidate, Degi-Eremienyo in the election for submitting forged certificates to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Reacting to the verdict at the party’s secretariat in Abuja, Oshiomole said that only the APC candidate met the “desired spread as expressed by the Supreme Court.

"The next candidate who happens to be the PDP candidate does not have one-quarter of the votes cast in that election,” he added.

Duoye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came second in the November 16 governorship election with 143,172 votes, while Mr Lyon garnered 352,552 votes.
